Disability Cricket in Staffordshire

As the governing body responsible for all cricket in Staffordshire, Our vision is to become and remain the leading governing body in providing access to the sport of cricket for people with disabilities.

And to deliver a culture of inclusion at all levels within our sport and ensure that people with any impairment are respected and valued for the contribution that they make to the game.

What are we doing?

Staffordshire Cricket in Conjunction with Chance to Shine and the Community Investment Fund are providing free cricket coaching in local Special Schools to provide cricketing opportunities for all children interested in playing the game regardless of ability

“Do you know what my favourite part of the game is?  The opportunity to play”

In addition to this there are various competitions around the county that actively encourage school participation in a safe but competitive environment with children and young people playing against their peers. The children are coached on their ability –not -their disability.

“Its not the impairment that makes me disabled, it’s other people’s perceptions of me”
Staffordshire Cricket are committed to the One Game pledge an ambitious project aimed at widening the appeal of the sport and ensuring as many people as possible are welcomed into the game regardless of age, race, ability or gender

Through Competitions and talent ID we are looking to create a county disability team (by 2013) and promote and sustain a Midlands Disability Academy.
