Grounds' Care

High quality pitches are crucial to the playing experience and enjoyment of the game.

In Staffordshire, we have two ECB/IoG -trained County Pitch Advisors - Ian Plant in the north of the county and Andy Cartwright in the south - who available to help and guide clubs in all aspects of grounds' care.

The Institute of Groundsmanship (IoG), of which Staffordshire Cricket is a member, is a fantastic source of support and information; they run regular courses including :-

  • Level 1 Cricket - Cricket Groundsmanship - one day foundation course
  • Level 2 Cricket - Applied Turf Culture - full day course
  • Level 3 Cricket - Advanced Turf Culture - full day course
  • Full details of courses see the link below

Staffordshire Cricket also owns a wide-range of cricket ground maintenance equipment (centrally stored in the county with trailer) which clubs can hire for their pitch preparation and renovations.

The Pitchcare website (link below) provides a really useful cricket diary advising what groundswork needs to done and when.
