Staffs Dev XI v LancashireLosing the toss, Staffs were asked to bowl against a strong Lancashire side in the extremely hot conditions on what looked like a batting paradise at Leek. The Staffs bowlers stuck to the task and restricted Lancashire to 259 for 5 off their 50 overs. Opener Taylor Cornall scored 62 and George Lavelle produced a superb innings of 100 off 80 balls. Staffs bowlers Richard Williams and Dan Ball took 2 wickets each with Anis Raza taking the other one.
Staffs openers Ross Coates and Dan Ball both scored 27 before falling in quick succession. They were quickly joined by Brinder Phagura without scoring leaving the side on 59 for 3. Moddershall's Tom Hope and Porthill Park’s Louis Allison batted extremely well and steadily rebuilt the innings with a 97 run partnership. Staffs reached the last drinks break needing 110 runs to win with 7 wickets and 16 overs remaining. Unfortunately on the restart Allison holed out to mid-wicket for 58 and despite Hope scoring 52 the Staffs side collapsed to 196 all out. Lancashire bowler Sam Oldham finishing with 5 wickets for 23 runs off 5 overs.
