The Over 45 Masters is an annual short-format knockout competition aimed a re-introducing past players to the game. The 8-a-side competiton is open to clubs, pubs, companies or just groups of friends who fancy a quick, social game with some old (and new) friends.
Jason Britton, Development Director for Staffordshire Cricket said “We’re really pleased to facilitate the competition in trying to bring some of our lapsed players back to the game. Our recent playing surveys have highlighted a gap for those past players who would love to return to the game if a less-demanding format was available.”
The teams are split in to 4 groups geographically to cut down on travelling, with the top four teams competing in an annual finals day.
This short format is a brilliant way of getting old players back into the club and this has a significant financial benefit to the clubs as well. During games like this, players tend to bring the whole family along to watch, especially if they haven’t played for a number of years, and so if the home club provide food and drinks, it can be a great source of income for any club.
If you have a team that may be interested in this competition for 2018, please drop us an email and we will add you to next years list.
