Umpiring and scoring are crucial if cricket is to be played fairly and safely across the country, which is why there are a variety of courses and associations that can help if you would like to get involved.

The ECB Association of Cricket Officials (ACO) represents Scorers and Umpires and is responsible for the recruitment, training and development of all officials for and on behalf of the national governing body, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

There are a whole host of courses available to you if you wish to become a cricket umpire or scorers and so for more information please click on the links below:-

Current courses available in Staffordshire are as follows:-

We have arranged an umpires course in October,  Stage 1 and Stage 2 It's Your Call umpire training courses for October 5th & 6th 2019 at Penn CC. They start at 9 am and run until 4pm. You will be aware that there is a distinct shortage of umpires in the SSCL  and to this end the SSCL will cover the costs of the course £40 ( for those that pass and umpire on the league panel for 2020) and we will contribute £20 to those people that wish to become club umpires and umpire for their clubs in the league on a Saturday.

Here's the link to the online course finder page, it leads on to the booking pages through the info link. There is a £20 discount if both courses are booked together. The course fee includes all course materials and a year's membership of ECB ACO with all the advantages of insurance cover on match days.
